Summer at the Mill
Teachers summer camp

Camp #1: Respect Institute
At Rex Mill, we have had two successful summer camps for our students.  Our first camp was called The Respect Institute for specially selected young ladies and was held June 19th and 20th.  Led by English Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Ford, this camp had a special guest speaker—actress Logan Browning from Hit the FloorMeet the Browns and other well-known shows and films. Ms. Browning took the time to teach young ladies about dealing with negativity while working on maintaining a positive self-image.  Several teachers from Rex Mill along with a partnership with Rex Mill’s PTO worked to fund and facilitate many activities that foster trust and leadership in these students.  As a result, these young ladies had many breakthroughs and are going to be leaders at Rex Mill Middle School.

Camp #2: STEM Camp
Rex Mill Middle school’s  STEM coordinator, Dr. Best led our annual STEM camp for incoming magnet students June 27th.  Approximately 60 students attended this camp and got the opportunity to learn about the STEM culture at Rex Mill. Through interactive and engaging activities led by Rex Mill teachers and supported by current Rex Mill student leaders, new magnet students explored STEM concepts in the gym, computer lab, the STEM innovative lab, and the band room.
